About GCP
Our community’s purpose:
Raising awareness around the world and making a difference in our local communities
Here is what some of our members say about their GCP experience:
“GCP is a “harbor in the tempest,” allowing me, at least, to exhale for a time and enjoy the camaraderie of others with an elevated vision of global peace, a vision that GCP is actively contributing to.”
“I don’t get to the sessions as often as I would like but every time I do get there I always come away with some nugget that keeps me thinking!”
“Just to say a very big thank you … for sustaining such a safe and welcoming space …”
“It makes me feel connected and hopeful and God knows we need that wherever we can get it these days.”
GCP Community agreements
The following are agreements that the community has identified over time and that we ask everyone who joins our sessions to respect:
Confidentiality: share stories but not people’s real names
Challenge by Choice: only share what you feel comfortable
Take and Create Space: speak up (if you don’t normally do so) and let others speak (if you are normally more vocal)
Perception is Reality: be open to multiple perspectives
Suspend Judgment: give everyone the benefit of the doubt
Agree to Disagree Agreeably: turn potential conflict into learning
Session strUCTURE
Sessions typically start with a brief opening, highlighting examples of global disruption and hope, and check-ins in breakout rooms to connect with other members and get ready for the session.
After an interactive presentation with discussion in small groups and/or plenary, we wrap up after the formal 90 minute session and keep the room open for another 30 minutes for informal chat.
Technical process
If possible, use both audio and video in breakouts – in plenary, please mute your audio unless speaking.
Use the plenary chat to ask questions and share thoughts, resources, etc.
Keep introductions in breakouts brief so you can focus on the questions.
